Wat?

Tibby was doing this cute thing last night.  She kept sticking her nose through the bar of the gate.  I made her stay off the carpet, because her feet were wet.  She had fun running around outside and then she was mad that her wet feet prevented her from rolling on the carpet.  Silly girl!

The Epic Basement Project

It all began November 11th 2011 - 11-11-11....A red letter day.
My Dad left to deer hunt.  My Mom and I looked around for a project.  Hmmmm.  How about the basement?  YES!!  Let's take a wall (or two) down.  Girl Power!

Before we started - the basement looked like this:

I've lived here for almost 7 years and I always wanted to do 'something' with the basement.  But after remodeling the whole upstairs, I ran out of steam.  Finally, it was time to tackle the basement!
During the demo stage I realized that I can take on a wall of 2x4 studs with only a hammer and destroy it.  It was.....fun.  hee, hee, hee.

12-11-11  ONE MONTH LATER.  Yeah, it wasn't a fast project, but there was a lot of work to do.
At this point in the project I realize that I can do electrical work.  It's not as complicated or difficult as people make it look.  My Dad showed me how to install one ceiling light and then I did all the rest.  We also did a whole bunch of other electrical stuff - it was really messed up from the previous people that lived here.  But it's all straighten out now!  So all these things took time, but didn't change the look of the room very much.

My Mom came over one night and helped paint the ceiling.  Hmm?  Pink ceiling?  I had a minor freak out and my Mom kept stringing me along, "Didn't you say you wanted a pink ceiling?  But it will look so nice!"
It dried white.  Thank goodness.

My Dad worked one day by himself (without my help) and one of his friends helped him.  They managed to install the pocket door into the bathroom upside down.  LOL!!!  I came down to work the next day and I was like, "Um Dad?  This door is upside down."  He was like, "What?!? No it's not!"  Um, yeah it was.  Seeeeee women READ directions.  Very important.

12-29-11  IT'S DONE!!!!!  FINALLY!!!  SO WORTH IT!!!  Ok well it's not all finished.  The poles still need to be wrapped with carpet and a few more little touches.

I learned a lot about construction:  I used a hammer drill and put all the tack strip down.  I also glued all the pad.  I painted all the walls and trim.  I cut pieces of wood.  I drilled.
It wasn't fun, but it was worth it!!

Now to add agility equipment!

New Carpet vs. Tibby

Tibby is potty trained.  Or was, until temptation came in by way of the new carpet.  Before the carpet was even installed - it was still partially rolled up - she had 'christened' it.  It happened while I was at work.  Really got to stop going to work and leaving other people around Tibby
Well, maybe that was just a fluke.  They weren't paying attention and she really needed to go.  Although I would like to mention that I told them to leave the baby gate up (again!).
This morning I was playing with Tibby in the living room on the carpet.  She had gone outside to potty and when she came inside we started playing.  One second she was playing (with me!) and the next she squatted and tried to pee on the carpet!  I picked her up really fast and took her outside.  Unfortunately, she was successful (just a tiny bit).  So I spent the next 1/2 hour cleaning the carpet.  Before she peed she didn't sniff around or act like she needed to go.
Well, this is not good.  Tibby has it out for the new carpet.  I want to have carpet, but I also want to have Tibby on the carpet.  What to do?
Prepare yourself.
No one seems to talk about this,
But I can't be the first person to have done this.
Diapers.
Yes, diapers.
She only wears them when we are going to be in the living room on the carpet.  Otherwise she runs around 'naked'.  So far she hasn't had an accident with or without the diapers.  She asks to go outside just like she normally does.
I'm going to be brave and admit it - I LOVE these diapers!
Why didn't I think of this a long time ago?  Now when we go to visit friends and family I can relax.  I don't have to watch her like a hawk and ignore everyone, because I'm terrified she will accidentally pee on their carpet.
I don't know why carpeting is so attractive to her, but hopefully she will realize that she can't pee on carpeting, just like she can't pee on tile and hardwood.
Does Tibby like the diapers?  Well, she doesn't seem to know that they are there.  She jumps, runs, shakes, rolls and tears around like she normally does.  Proof?  See the video below.
Tibby is wearing modified Luvs diapers.  I couldn't find anywhere in town that sold actual dog diapers.
