Dog Treats

I added some new dog treats to our little Etsy shop.  Dhali and Tibby are the official taste testers.  They tell me if it's a good recipe or not.  Tibby knows exactly what she likes.  She's picky.
They are, of course, all grain free and I don't add any sugars, salts or preservatives.  The dogs think they are yummy!  I have sold some and other dogs seem to love them too!

This is the link to our store - if you want to see Dhali and Tibby's 'official taste tester' pictures.  They are always the last / fifth picture.  Khyi - Kiyi  You may have to scroll down or go to the 2nd page.  Things move around when someone buys something.

Flank Steak and Russet Potato

Chicken Jerky - Original flavor

Chicken Jerky - Mint flavor

Pumpkin - Peanut Butter

Well, That Was Disappointing!

I had these big plans to take Dhali to a handling class tonight.  We got all loaded up and hit the road.  I'm not sure what happened, but I couldn't find the place!  I had the address in my GPS, but it took me to a residential area.  It was probably right there, but it's pitch black by 6pm and I couldn't see anything that looked like the right place.  Or even a driveway or any lights......it was SO DARK!  I drove around a little bit trying to see if I could find a sign or something, but nothing.  Then I got on the wrong road and almost drove to Loretta's!  LOL!  I was really lost.  I hate my GPS.  I swear it is trying to kill me by taking me on the most round about way to get to my destination.

All was not lost though, I went to Chipotle for dinner and took Dhali to Petsmart.  I had a $5 giftcard from filling out a survey, so I bought the pups a few new toys and Catty got some treats.  I don't write a lot about Catty, because she's a cat and doesn't do too much.  She's getting older and has decided that the only thing she wants to eat are a certain type of treats.  So I bought her 2 big bags.

When I checked out the girl asked me if I had a dog and a cat.  At first I couldn't figure out why, but then I realized that I was buying a bunch of cat toys and cat treats.  Yes, I have 2 catdogs and a full breed cat.  The 99 cent furry mouse was a big hit with the pups.  Tibby LOVES it.  It is her precious.  Dhali chewed its head off.  I also bought a blue holee roller.  I was hoping this would end the fighting over the red one.  I stick little pieces of chicken jerky in them and the dogs try and try to get the treats out.  The final toy is a big purple jingle ball.  It's a cat toy too and Dhali has been chewing on it, but so far it has held up.  I wish someone would design some dog toys that my dogs would like.  Durable, but not THAT durable.  Softer and with jingle bells.  Then I wouldn't have to buy cat toys for them!  They have almost every toy that Petsmart sells in their toy box, but there are only a very few that they actually like.  I'm getting better at figuring out what it is that they like in a toy.

Dhali was a good boy in Petsmart.  I think it must be one of the most difficult places to visit with a dog.  First of all, to a dog, it must reek of dog pee.  Dhali sniffed every single end cap, post and crack in the floor.  Hmmm, wonder why he did that?  Then it smells of every delicious cat and dog food and treats and raw hide, ect.  Then it smells like mouse, rat, birds, rabbits....  There is music and announcements in a man's voice at random times about sales that are going on.  The floor is super slippery.  There are walls with an overwhelming array of everything that a dog could imagine blocking their view.  People and dogs suddenly appear from behind these walls.  For a dog it is a weird, weird place.

My favorite parts were when we played a couple times.  Just silly wrestling with my hands and Dhali jumping and being funny.  It just showed me that he was feeling pretty comfortable and let him get rid of some stress. He liked it.  Chased after me down the aisle.  Then we played around with the big crates in the back of the store a couple of different times.  Dhali was very happy to jump in and out of the crates for treats.  Considering the huge level of distractions in the store he did really good.

Dhali with the mouse tail hanging out of his mouth.

Tibby with the mouse.  Her precious.  She's hiding underneath a chair so it doesn't get stolen.

2 holee's are better than one.

Treat Giveaway

We made some treats!  Want to win a bag?
Go here to our Etsy store KhyiKiyi.  On the right side above the price there are three boxes - either Tweet, Pin or Like our treats.  Then leave a comment with your email and I will have the eager taste testers (Dhali and Tibby) pick a winner on Oct. 30th.

"Give us treats!"

"Nom, nom, nom."
I was hoping for a cute picture of them waiting to eat them.  Um, yeah no.  Even Tibby who is usually rock solid on waiting for treats, was like, "Pffft, gimmy my treats!"

Dhali is sure if he sits very, very still more treats will appear.

Waiting.....

We Have A Shop!

Dhali and Tibby are exhausted from all the supervising they have been doing.  What have we been up to?  Well, check out our little shop KhyiKiyi  or read/see pictures of my projects here Dust Bath.
I should even have some grain-free dog biscuits in the shop by tomorrow!  They are cooling right now and the dogs are begging to be taste testers LOL!

Shoppin'

I took Dhali and Tibby shopping at Runnings (farm store) tonight.  Dhali again, Tibby's first time.  I took them in separately, which I think the girls at the register thought was funny.  Of course, they thought Tibby was Dhali coming in for a 2nd visit!  Yeah, Dhali's getting big, but not THAT big!

So Dhali really likes going shopping.  He goes right in the doors and isn't shy about anything.  I'm not sure if he's learning to focus on me.....although I was able to reward him for watching me quite a few times.  Mostly I just let him 'browse'.  aaaand he did!  He found lots of little tasty snacks all over the store.  Hmmmm, may need to re-think this shopping as socialization idea.  He found a few pieces of spilled kibble in the dog food isle - our brand even! and some rabbit food and a peanut shell.  I was treating him with his kibble, but I guess free kibble is tastier.

I'm thinking a few more visits and then we will try doing some tricks.  He did simple ones -sit, spin and nose touch, but I would like to work on other things - 4 feet in a bowl, push little wheeled cart, get up on tippy step.  He sort of looked at what I was offering and then said, "Nah. I'm good looking for snacks on the floor right now.  I don't want to work."  O-kay.  Big breath.  It's o-kay.

He is really very well behaved though.  Walks right along and looks at people and then looks back at me.  AT THIS POINT I really can't compete with free found snacks on the floor, but soon hopefully with practice  I will be more valuable than an empty peanut shell on the floor. :P

I debated about bringing Tibby into the store - on one hand if she was naughty they might not let us back into the store and on the other hand she might be good.  She was pretty good, although I saw that she REALLY does have a fear of men.  Woman approached her and she was all waggy tail, "Hi there!".  Husband of woman came up and she was, "Ah!  Retreat!  Stranger!"  But she didn't have a reactive episode, so that is a big PLUS in the go Tibby column.  One thing about Runnings - 90% of the people shopping are men.  There was another dog in the store, a big pointer of some kind, but I don't think she saw him.  When I realized there was another dog walking around I made sure we didn't get too close to them.  I didn't want to ruin our up to then good shopping trip.
One thing that surprised her (and Dhali doesn't even notice) people talking in other isles where she can't see them.  She was very suspicious of those invisible people.  We walked through the toy isle and there was a talking gerbil toy.  She was scared of it for a second then when she realized it was a toy she made the funniest sound/head shake - like she was rolling her eyes at it, "Oh, what a waste of time pfffft!"

She was VERY happy that we brought home another croaking frog.  It's a small size one, but she will have to be happy with it.  She broke the big one - no more ribbity, ribbity - that we've had for a couple months.  It is the ONLY toy that she wants to play with by herself.  She carries it around and gets upset when Dhali tries to take it.   Last night she brought it to me a bunch of times to play fetch.  So yeah we had to get a new one!  Even though it is a very annoying noise - I would gladly take a squeaker any day.

2nd Trip To Petsmart Yesterday

Tibby was SO GOOD.  She walked around with a loose leash (!!!!!) about 90% of the time.  She sat down (on her own - I didn't ask her to sit) to greet a small boy and let him pet her.  She also sat and greeted a woman and 2 other children.  I was really amazed and proud of her.  After our last visit with all the pulling and whining - this was a great visit!  When we left a worker gave Tibby half of a Milkbone.  Tibby has never had that kind of treat before and this Milkbone was huge.  It filled her whole mouth like a chew toy!  She politely took it, dropped it behind a check out desk and then trotted out the door with me.  Funny girl!
