Nothing Wrong With Feelings

For anyone that was worried: I don't think there is anything wrong with Tibby. Except that she is the most SENSITIVE dog in the world.

I have been trying to teach Dhali to leave Catty alone, so when he goes to bite and tug on her ears I say, "Hey!" That's it. Not even in a loud or mean way. Tibby goes soft and crawls belly on the ground, trys to lick my face - super sensitive baby trying to appease the mean, 'angry' owner. Seriously, you would think I beat her. Which I don't!!! I don't even say 'no' to her, because she doesn't do anything wrong!

She is also very, very smart. Yesterday, I was trying to teach Dhali to bring back a toy. It's a crackle bottle in a sock. Tibby is VERY afraid of it and runs away when Dhali carries it around in her mouth. Apparently my, "Bring it back, get the toy!!!, get the toy!!, get the toy!!, get the toy!" was annoying her. She got up from her bed, walked over to the toy, put a paw on the toy and waited until Dhali got the message and picked up the toy to bring it to me. Smart dog. Scary smart. She is also showing me that she knows how to do all the tricks that I'm teaching Dhali, but she makes it obvious that she will do them once to show him and then she's done. Ahh Tibby, too smart for me. >

Smart Baby

No pictures for this post - I'm having some computer issues again and the computer is going in tomorrow to get fixed, so not sure when I will be able to post again :(

Anyway, Tibby was such a good girl today!  I always make her wait at the door before I release her.  I don't say anything, she's just supposed to know that she can't zip out of the door.  Well, today for the first time ever I saw her thinking about it!  She started to move forward, then she moved back then she made a big step forward and then she scooted herself back two steps.  She looked up at me like, "Ah ha!  I get it!  Now can I go outside?"
Soooo smart!

Then later on she hopped in the tub to get a drink (she likes to drink out of the tub).  I usually have her do a trick or something to get me to turn on the faucet for her.  Today after I asked for a sit, she waited until I released her to get her drink.  Wow!  I was surprised when she did that!  Usually she dives into the water :)

I just wanted to post something that shows how smart Tibby is, just in case this is the last post for a few days :(  Oh well, I'll save up some good stories!

Kitchen Helper

Tibby might not be the fastest or most desperate to please, but she isn't a dummy.  Last night I was cutting up some vegetables in the kitchen.  I had the door underneath the kitchen sink open, so I could throw the peelings away easily.  My back was to the open cupboard door and I didn't even know Tibby was in the kitchen.  I thought she was in her crate in the living room chewing on a bully stick.  No.  Tibby was watching me.
Bang!  I heard the cupboard door slam shut behind me.  I turned around to see Tibby sitting by the door waiting for her treat.  She did it over and over again.  If there was any door left open in the kitchen she closed it, without any direction from me.  I was so surprised!
She may be a non-sporting dog, but that doesn't mean she isn't a working dog!
