Tibby got a bath today! I'm taking care of a friend's chickens this week-end. We went out to the farm this morning and Tibby found some stinky poop to roll in. It looked like fresh cat poop or vomit. Yuck! I know!
I rinsed her off with the hose, because she was not getting in the car smelling like that! She needed to get wet anyway, because it was 95F in the sun. We hung out in the shade for a little while and Tibby tried to get one of the GIANT cats to play with her. The cat, Ray, is as big as Tibby. It's so nice to be in the country. Very quiet. No nosey neighbors. If we didn't get tons of snow every winter I would live in the country too. Tibby liked running around off leash.

Super Stinky Hiking
More pictures from yesterday's hike. I could have done laundry yesterday, but laundry can't make my puppy happy! It was a good thing we went hiking when we did, because it started to rain later in the afternoon.
Postcard perfect.
We saw a TON of snakes. They were everywhere. One or the other of us was always jumping, because a snake had just moved underneath our feet on the path. Good thing neither of us are afraid of snakes!
The pups didn't care about snakes. They were on the look out for stinky stuff.
Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
Weeeeee!
Boing!
Now this is a happy dog. Tibby found some especially stinky POOP to roll in. I think it was deer poop. It was nasty. But honestly she looks so happy! I couldn't stop her.
Dog spa LOL!
Oh no you didn't!
"O yes I DID!"
Oh no! Tibby!
"Ha ha ha! I smell pretty!"
Pretty rotten. Awww puppers.
Oh well, that's why I have water and soap at home.
It was worth a ton of stinky poop to get that last happy picture of Tibby.

Spring? Where?
"Spring? Where? Over there?"
"Over here?"
"Nope. Haven't seen it."
So Tibby has decided that she will not go potty in the backyard. The melting snow is revealing various thing, scattered around the yard, that I forgot about. It looks like a pottery serial killer decided to use my backyard as a burial site. These half buried things scare Tibby. Fine. We are back to 4-6 walks a day (or more, it's nice outside!). Great. Except.......I have to wash Tibby's feet, legs and belly after EVERY single walk. All the sand, salt and muck from 6 months of snow has melted into the road. It is nasty. Also, I am apparently the only person in the WHOLE city that picks up after my dog. There are literally piles of dog poop all over the streets and sidewalks. I should take pictures of it - you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it. Some people must throw the poop from their yards into the street. There is an excess of poop in front of certain houses. I've lived in a few places. This city has hardly any rules and rarely enforces any of them. There aren't any poop laws - apparently!

In other news.....anyone else love to pluck ear hair? I finished plucking Tibby's ear hair a couple days ago. I spread it over 2 days, so she wouldn't get sick of it. She slept through it both times. I had my headband flashlight thingy and my tweezers - looked like I was doing surgery on poor Tibby! I just love to get way down in the ear, find a little wax/hair and yank it out. One thing that no one mentioned when I was thinking about a Tibetan Terrier - they don't shed, so their ear hair keeps growing.......so you are going to have to pluck that out.

Tibby is so tired tonight. We took 5 walks today and one was for almost 2 hours. Yay Spring!

Day 3 - Pee Tired
Awww, aren't you cute?!?
Why do you keep peeing and pooping on my floor!
At this point, I thought I would never sleep again and Tibby would never be potty trained.
Ha ha she is!
Mmmmm, just this last week she finally figured it out.
"Oh, you WANT me to poop outside!"
We were both really tired.
I took Tibby outside all the time. I was constantly trying to figure out when she was going to pee. Every time I was wrong!
We would sit outside for hours. And she wouldn't go. We would go inside and she would pee on the floor.
People gave me advice:
The vet, "Tie her leash to your waist. Then you'll know when she needs to go."
No. I will know when she goes. When I first brought her home, Tibby wouldn't squat to pee. She would stand like an immature boy puppy, legs spread slightly apart. Maybe it was from growing up with all boys?
Other people, "Rub her nose in it. It worked for my dad/brother/sister/cousin."
NO! Not gonna happen.
Friends, "Use a crate. Then she won't pee. Dogs won't pee in their crate."
The vet told me this too. I really, really tried to use a crate. Because everyone says it is the way to go. I started out slowly - look this funny box has food next to it/inside it/near the area of the crate. It has all your toys inside it! The cat loves it! I love it! Look my head is in your crate eating the food! So much fun!
If I put Tibby in the crate she instantly peed and started to scream.
Have you ever heard a Tibetan Terrier?
Have you ever heard a normally silent TT scream for 2 hours? Without. Stopping.
And she is covered in pee and her toys and food and blanket are covered in pee?
I stopped using the crate.
I started keeping tract of when she pooped and peed.
She went at 5am, at 11am, at 4pm, at 8pm and at 11pm.
Yes, she pooped 5 times a day.
We took a lot of walks.
I still cleaned my floors a lot.
So tired.
When I finally gave up on the crate, life was so much easier.
I made lots of fences out of NIC grids. They are the best!
I use them with my bunnies too.
You can buy them at Target and other stores. Then just zip tie them together to make whatever shape fence you want. Way cheaper than puppy play pens/x-pens, although I have 2 of those too!
