Teeth and Only Teeth

Dhali's mouth is crazy right now.  His big canines are growing in and his baby teeth are not falling out!  They refuse to go!  I know that at least one of his back teeth has fallen out, because I stepped on it.  OUCH!  Very sharp.  3 prongs - stuck into my foot.  Ow.

I was complaining about his sharp little canines and now he not only has them he has added 4 more.  omg.  It has to hurt -right?  He doesn't seem to act any different.  Tugs and plays the same.

Cheese!

He also has ONE itty bitty baby tooth in the front that is still hanging on.  Can you see it?  It's a little snaggle tooth on the bottom row, right side.  Right next to his lovely SETS of canines.

And here are Tibby's teeth, just for fun.

Cheese!

Errrr!

Snip! Snap!  Big Teeth!

Lazy Deck

The deck is a very popular hang out spot.  And the deck bed is the spot to have.  Notice Dhali has the bed.  Doesn't look like he's going to share either.

These first 2 pictures are from last Sunday.

This one is from the week before that.

And this one is from the 12th!  So behind on picture posting!

Dhali was enjoying a frozen pupsicle on the deck.  Now that it's so much colder he isn't as interested in pupsicles. We'll have to wait until next summer, I guess.

A Cloud Studio Collar and Leash Review

Kat and Amy from A Cloud Studio let Tibby test out their unique dog collar and leash design!
The collar and leash are extremely well made and they look so elegant!

Kat Cloud explains the road that led them to designing these beautiful collars and leashes, " I moved to Winooski VT with the love of my life Matt in 2009. Trying to find jobs after college and just living life as a young couple until Matt relapsed with Leukemia in December 2010.......In April of 2011 Matt and I went to Boston Children's hospital where he stayed a few months for a bone marrow transplant. After returning home Matt was doing great and on his way to a year of recovering from the transplant. During this time we planned our wedding and futures together, including getting a dog that could keep up with Matt like he always wanted, a Hungarian Vizsla.

In October of 2011 Matt relapsed again with his Leukemia and we stayed in the hospital for upwards of a month because he was too sick to go home. We quickly realized the grim reality and spent as much time with our families at the hospital. On the morning of 11-11-11 Matt's mother Amy and my brother did the most amazing thing ever...they planned a wedding with hospital staff and decorated the family room on our floor. Matt and I had the most amazing wedding I could ever dream of, complete with a balloon arch. Matthew B. Cloud passed away the morning of 11-13-11.

Matt's family has been wonderful and comforting during everything. Right before Christmas Matt's parents helped me find a Vizsla puppy to keep me company. I named her Harper after an inside joke with Matt.
Matt's mother Amy went with me to get her and being completely unprepared to welcome a puppy into my life I had nothing on me, like a leash and collar. On the way home from our trip we stopped at a chain pet store to purchase a leash and collar only to find that the options were slim and overpriced for ugly, not fun designs.

Covered in puppy puke and drool I thought out loud to Amy "I could make these and make them look better." Matt's mother is a talented VT crafter and encouraged me to pursue such an idea. With her help we created K Cloud Designs chain of puppy ware 'Puppy Love.'"

Tibby shows off one of the leashes unique features: a carabiner lead.  Before we got the leash I wasn't sure how this feature would work.  After trying it out I have to say it's really nice!  It's very strong and easy to attach to the collar.  My Mom has arthritis and she thought this was a great idea for a leash snap.  She always has trouble fumbling with the tiny snaps on Tibby's leashes, but the carabiner made it so easy for her!  She said this should be marketed to all arthritis sufferers!

Each leash is lovingly hand made by Kat and Amy Cloud.  They use high quality webbing, ribbons and will even personalize your leash or collar with a fabric (such as a blanket or piece of clothing) that has personal meaning to you.  They also stitch this cute label to each leash!   "I love my dog"  I loved looking down at that when Tibby and I took a walk - so cute!

Tibby shows off the curved plastic buckle on the adjustable collar.
They have a LOT of fabric color and design choices - from solid colors to plaids to prints to pokadots!
If you need help deciding on a color or print (and you might, because there are a ton to choose from): Just tell them a little about your pet's personality and they will help you pick one out.  I LOVE the one they picked for Tibby!  It's PERFECT!

Isn't it gorgeous!
I think Tibby looks super elegant in her new A Cloud Studio Collar and Leash!

Check out A Cloud Studio if you want:

  • A personalized collar and leash
  • made from high quality materials
  • with a unique carabiner  design
  • and sweet touches like the I love my dog tag!

Mr. Chewy Review

We were asked by Mr. Chewy to review his web site.  He gave us $50 to spend on Mr. Chewy products!  The web site has over 70 different brands of treats, food and other products like cat litter and pet health care items.  We took a long time to pick out just the right items, because they have so many things to choose from!

I thought the web site was really nice, looked good, but it was a little hard to find the type of treats I wanted.  Tibby only likes soft treats.  She refuses to eat treats like milk bones.  Every time we go to a pet store and they give her a hard biscuit type treat, she politely takes it, walks away, discreetly drops the treat and continues walking.  SO I wanted to find soft treats.  I tried searching for both soft and moist treats.  It came up with a couple, but it was only when I went to another web site, typed in the same search word, found some brands, went back to Mr. Chewy and searched by brand that I was able to find soft treats.  So the search function could use some work.  It would be nice if they had the treats organized into sections like Clean Run does - with training treats, tiny treats, jerky, meat type, ect. all separated into different sections.

We ended up with one bag of treats that had 'jerky' in the name, so I thought they would be soft, but they turned out to be a thick hard biscuit.  Tibby is still deciding how she feels about them. :)

The descriptions could also use some work, but as it is a new company, I'm sure they will flesh those out.
For example:  Stella and Chewy's freeze dried patties.  On Mr. Chewy's website it said, "Our commitment to quality starts with our ingredients. Every Stella & Chewy's product is made with raw, naturally raised meat, poultry or fish, sourced from USDA-inspected facilities, without added hormones or antibiotics. All of our products are made without grain, fillers, artificial preservatives or colorings. We don't even add sugar or salt! And every single ingredient we use is sourced from reputable suppliers."
However,
The Stella and Chewy's website tells me that they are, "Made in Wisconsin with raw  farm-raised and cage-free chicken."  Each Stella and Chewy's product has a different description, but on the Mr. Chewy web site all the descriptions for the different Stella and Chewy's products have the same description.

Why should I buy this product or flavor over all the other ones?

I really liked the Mr. Chewy Recommendations - I found a bunch of items that I would never have found on my own.
I also like the customer reviews of products.  There are a LOT of reviews and they are VERY helpful.
Shipping is free on orders over $49.  It took 6 days to get our order.
They have very competitive prices and I was surprised at how much we got for $50.
I would suggest that they drop the grocery store brands, because I don't see very many people ordering those items.  Then they could pick up a few more unusual brands that people HAVE to order online.  I would use Mr. Chewy again - especially if they had some of the brands from Clean Run or frozen raw.  I would like to try that someday.
They have WAY more brands than the pet store (which is a 2 hour drive round trip from my house) and I like to be able to read about the items before I buy them and compare them to each other (which is hard to do in a pet store).

So to re-cap!

  • Huge selection of Dog & Cat items
  • Free shipping on orders over $49
  • Easy to use website
  • Reasonably priced items
  • Needs better item descriptions
  • Needs a better search function
  • Great customer reviews of products
  • A variety of brands only available online (plus some grocery store brands)
Disclosure: All opinions are my own and uninfluenced by anyone else. I received $50 in dog treats to facilitate my review, but that did not affect my opinion

Right Side? Left? Plus Great Attention!

Little video from class last night.  Tibby is super cute!  I love the way she watches me and follows my body language.  And how she goes over the A-frame.  It would be fun to have an A-frame at home - Tibby likes it so much :)  She's really very brave.  I'm not sure I would run up and over something like that.  Dogs are very trusting!

I'm not sure if it was from the treats last night or chewing on her bully stick, but Tibby woke up with a yucky stomach.  She threw up this morning (thankfully we made it outside first) some green bile.  Then tonight she ate a turkey neck and then threw that up too.  I thought the throw up this morning might just be a quick thing, but probably the turkey neck wasn't a good idea - since she must still feel sick.  Except that she doesn't!  She wants to play and eat!  She can't understand why we aren't DOING SOMETHING!!  She ate a couple pieces of kibble that she found at the bottom of a Kong and drank some water a couple hours ago.  So far that has stayed down, but I'm letting her have a little fast and then tomorrow she can have rice and chicken.

So anyway our video - I thought running with Tibby on my right side flowed better.  If Tibby had a send I could have pushed her to the tunnel, instead of having to rear cross.  The Teacher told us that running them on the right side was a really horrible way to run it and we could try it if we wanted, just so we could feel how awful it was.  So we could learn.  She asked us if we wanted to try running it on both sides and I was like - YES!  That's what I have been wanting from the beg.  To get to try different things with the courses.  I was the only one who tried to run differently both times.  When other classmates were going up and running it exactly the same, I kept asking Zoe's Mom, "Aren't we supposed to try the left side and then the right side?"  I was confused about what every one else was doing.   When we got done The Teacher said, "Now do you see how horrible the right side felt?  The left side is much better - right?"  All I could say was, "Well, we got to run some more."  Technically true, not a lie, but not what I was really thinking.   Minnesota Nice, anyone?

Zoe's Mom said after this class ends she's not going to do agility any more.  I told her it can take a long time to train a dog.  That we have been working for almost a year.  That Tibby was really, really, really hard to train.  She said she doesn't want to work that hard or train that long.  She wants Zoe to know how to do everything right away.  It doesn't work that way!!!  Although I can never forget that Zoe's Mom was the one who said Tibby would never be able to weave.  Well, ha ha!  She weaved 6 closed poles on Tuesday!  At class!  And no I didn't get video proof :)  I'll try next week!

In the video you get to see our classmates - Blondie, Zoe, Maisy and Cord (or Cort, I'm not sure which).  I would LOVE to get a video of Cord the Aussie running - it's very funny.  He bites his handler the entire time.  She yells at him.  He knocks down entire jumps.  She yells at him.  He jumps over tunnels.  Did I say it was funny?  Maybe I meant sad.  But kind of funny.  Take out his owner yelling all the time and it would be super hilarious.  I'm actually waiting for the day that she kicks him into a tunnel.  She's getting really close.

Watermelly Belly

After a few nice weeks (of rain!) we are back to too HOT!  It is almost 10:30pm and it is still 93F.  Plus it is humid.  Ugh.  I'm sorry all the people who like hot weather - I want 60's not 90's!!

Tibby tried out some watermelon.  She was not very impressed.
"Why am I supposed to eat this?"
She gave it a lick and that was it.

Spring?

"This is my rug."

"Ahhhhhh, my rug is fabulous!"

"Keep watch while I sleep."

"It's so nice and quiet when the cat goes to sleep."

"This is my rug now."

Earlier Catty did something very funny.  Tibby sat down next to Catty on the rug.  Catty was ticked, so she got up and went to the far side of the deck.  Then she rolled around like it was the best spot in the world.  Of course, Tibby got up to investigate this new spot.  As soon as Tibby got up and walked over to the new spot Catty zipped back to the rug and flopped all over it.  And who's the manipulative one?

Shopping Special and The Lookout

*disclaimer* I know plastic bags are dangerous for pets.  I watched Catty the whole time, so she wouldn't suffocate herself.

I got a special at Catmart today!  Buy a bag get a free cat!

"Can I keep this bag furever?"

"Shhhh, no dogs allowed in this secret hideout."

"You're letting all the heat out of my sauna!"

"What?  I like plastic bags.  Ok?

Meanwhile..........Tibby was on lookout duty.  She likes to watch the neighbors.  Yes, I have a peeping tom dog.  Her favorite time to watch them is at night.  I don't feel bad for them though, they're the ones who won't put curtains up!  They 'like the open look'.

This is my NIC panel fence that I made to keep Tibby from going into the middle of the yard and sitting there barking until I come out.
