Dark Dog Outfitters Collar Review

This week Clarissa at Dark Dog Outfitters let us test her glow in the dark collars.  Ok, I don't know about you, but when I hear 'glow in the dark' I get super excited!
Yes, I was the kid that decorated the entire house with glow in the dark paint while their Mom was out.

These collars are excellent.  I can tell that Clarissa put a lot of thought into these collars.  Everything from the webbing to the stitching is high quality.  They're pretty too!  Even during the day, when they aren't glowing, they look like a nice decorative collar.

Here is Tibby stylin' her Dark Dog Outfitters glow in the dark collar.

The Dark Dog Outfitters collar arrived with a little treat for Tibby, which she appreciated and a handy info card about the collar.  Charging the collar is easy: Simply place the collar in full sunlight, under a fluorescent or black light.  The 'charge' lasts for 8 hours.  No batteries needed!
The first day I left the collar in a sunny window.
The next day, I left the collar on Tibby and by evening the collar was all charged up and glowing brightly.
The third day I charged it underneath a fluorescent bulb.
They all worked beautifully and gave us a nice bright glow.

The color is very pretty too.  Bright ice blue! These Dark Dog Outfitters collars also come in a handsome green.  The only suggestion Tibby had was a bright pink collar, so people don't think she is a boy!

Each collar is custom made for your dog by Dark Dog Outfitters using a durable layer of 1 1/2 or 1 inch webbing and industrial strength Velcro.  Not only does it glow it also reflects light for added safety.  If your dog likes nighttime swimming - this is the collar for you!  It glows even when submerged in water.
To clean simply wipe off with a damp cloth.

Clarissa at Dark Dog Outfitters has a five year old Belgian Malinois named Aria and a 9 yr. old rescued Border Collie named Jester. They both have competed in agility and dock diving.

Clarissa's favorite activity with her dogs is hiking. This is how she started making the glow in the dark collars.
After a bad hiking trip - Clarissa explains, "I started making glow in the dark collars for my Malinois. I like to go solo backpacking and at night in my tent or hammock she would get up to listen at weird sounds. It kinda freaked me out, (what was that sound game is not fun to play by yourself) I would have to turn on my flashlight to see what she was doing and where she was looking. The glow in the dark collars allowed me to see what she was doing at night without having to find my flashlight. Glow in the dark is just bright enough to see but without the glaring brightness of LEDs."

Clarissa also makes nylon dog agility chutes.  She is also working neon orange and yellow vest for hiking or walking during hunting season.

I liked this collar a lot.  Tibby wore it almost the entire week and it was very handy.  For example, when she went outside in the dead of night and wouldn't come back in - I knew exactly where she was hiding in the yard!  Her glowing Dark Dog Outfitters collar gave her away!
On the safety side: Now that the time has changed it gets dark at 5pm.  I felt much better taking an evening walk with Tibby, because with her glow in the dark collar on motorists could easily see her.
This Dark Dog Outfitters collar is:
High Quality
Well Designed
Battery free!
Safety Conscious
and
Easy to Clean

I highly recommend the Dark Dog Outfitters collar.

Tibby also gives it 4 paws up!
