Dog Park Fun With Lucy

Tibby had a play date yesterday with Lucy.  You might remember Lucy from here and here.
I picked Lucy up from her house and we headed to the dog park.  As we left Lucy's owner called out, "Oh  by the way, Lucy sometimes gets car sick!"  I had Lucy sit in the front seat and she was fine.
Let's recap Lucy's history:  Besides Tibby, she has never played with any other dogs.  She is about 4 years old.  She has never been off leash.  If she goes outside she is on a tie out or has a gentle leader on.  Let me say that again - She has NEVER been off leash.  As in EVER.
As we walked up to the dog park gates, I was thinking about that and having second thoughts about this experiment.
Did I mention that her owners were at first afraid to let Tibby play with her, because she is 'mean'.  Yeah, so maybe I should have thought about those things before we got to the dog park.
But then again, I like to have adventures.
~
We went into the dog park and there was a HUGE lab plus something playing fetch with its owner.  The lab had an e-collar on, so that made me a little nervous.  Turns out he was super-duper friendly!  Yeah, a lab.  He kept bringing his ball to me and then his owner would have to walk all the way back to get the ball.  It was, as it always is to me, interesting to see how Tibby interacts with a new dog.  She was very good.  She wanted to play with him, but when I called her off, she came to me.  I was better than another dog!  Yeah!  Lucy did her own thing.  She was fine.  It was sweet to see her realize that she was off leash and could do what ever she wanted.

Tibby would have liked her to play a little more, but Tibby was respectful and didn't annoy her (too much!).  They did get in some good zoomies!

I loved seeing Tibby come to me away from 1) a new person 2) a new dog 3) her friend Lucy.  If it was a choice between going to any of those OR following me.  She chose me!  Apparently she does love me.

So Lucy can now - play with another dog, ride in the car and go to the dog park.  In other words, she is a normal dog and not 'mean' at all.

I put the zoomie pictures into a slide show.

Two Kongs Are Better

I have many, many pictures of Tibby and Lucy.  I need to get them posted, because another weekend is coming up quickly.
Tibby and Lucy enjoyed their PB kongs.  Until Lucy decided 2 were better than 1 - see last picture.  It's cute!

"Mine."

Who knew a tablecloth could be so much fun?

Peeking out from behind it.

Attacking it - argh!

A cozy fort.

For two friends.

Training Fun With Two Dogs

I thought you all might like to see a little training session I did with Tibby and Lucy this weekend.  You have to remember that before this weekend Lucy was labeled as 'dog aggresive' and she has NEVER in her entire life been allowed to play or interact (except barking/lunging on a leash) with another dog.

I thought they were pretty cute.  And super focused.  Competition at its best LOL!

I took a bunch of pictures of Lucy and Tibby and gave them to Lucy's owners yesterday.  They couldn't believe that Lucy and Tibby could play together.  They were shocked.  When we walked up to their place (Tibby was with me, of course) they were all worried about putting Lucy away, because they thought she would try to 'get Tibby'.  When Tibby and Lucy just sniffed each other and said 'hey', they were stunned.  Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

Tibby's New BFF

I hope you are ready for a lot of posts with a lot of cute dog pictures.  Tibby had a fun week-end and made a new friend.

This is Tibby's new BFF Lucy.  I wrote about Lucy a while back and said that she was too rough and didn't know how to play nicely with other dogs.  Well, she does!  We gave her a 2nd chance and they get along great.
Tibby had a very fun week-end.  I have been pet sitting (for free - yes, I am a good friend) 3 different families' pets.  3 dogs and a cat.  So for the last 3 days Tibby has gone with me to 2 new houses and played with her doggie buddies.  And politely sat and watched a strange (not Catty) cat.  Lucy is staying at my Mom's house, so technically my Mom is pet sitting her, but we have been over there every day to let the girls hang out.  Also, my Mom has had to work, so I took Lucy out for her evening walks.

Watching Tibby and Lucy interact really makes me wish I knew what they were saying to each other.

"I tell you a secret...."

Lucy pulls Tibby's ears and Tibby pulls Lucy's tail.  It's weird, but I guess they like it.

"Put you right paw in...."

"Ahhhhhh"

"Hey!  I don't think that's food."

"That was fun."
"Yeah."

Morning Run

Tibby and I joined my Mom's running group this morning.  Yeah....at 4:30am.  I worked until 11:30pm last night, but surprisingly wasn't tired when the alarm went off.  Too excited about running for the first time since this fun night.

Tibetan mind control - "You will pick up my leash.  Ooooo leeeash.  Noooow."

Running + cheap camera + foggy + dark = interesting pictures

Tibby with curly hair from the humidity and the wind.

She is a little damp. :)

The other runners in our group.  There were 4 of us, but one person left early.
On the left is my Mom and on the right is her friend L. and Lucy.  Remember Lucy?

Tibby and me.

"Ahh that's refreshing."

Crazy double exposure.  Open eye, closed eye.

It was fun.  Tibby doesn't really run.  She just walks quickly.  Yes, my dog can walk faster than I can run.  But she has 4 feet!  Unfair advantage!  I want to do it again on Thurs.  I'm 'training' for a race on Sat.  It's a family tradition to run in the race. It is my tradition to procrastinate until the last week and then run a couple times before race day.
I was planning on stopping at the park on our way home to do some training with the pup, but Tibby was really thirsty and it was so wet outside we would have been soaked in seconds, so we'll try to go later.  I even packed a bag with treats and a jump last night, so I would be ready to go to the park.  Hopefully it doesn't start to rain this afternoon.
Well, now I have to go join Tibby in an after run nap.  I'm starting to feel a little tired.
