Dhali's Day: Farmer's Market

"Why'z I in here?"
This is Dhali in his carrier bag.  His face was wet from playing with the hose.

Today we went to the farmer's market.  It was a success!  I will hopefully be able to take him every week.  He was sooo good.  It rained most of the time we were there, so he got to see umbrellas every where.  Nothing fazes him.  He was happy to give everyone puppy kisses and be held by any one that stopped to say hi.  He met kids and older people, men and women, people in hats, people with canes, kids in strollers.  There was a balloon animal stand and every once in a while there would be a loud bang from random places when a kid's balloon popped.

I had a lot of people tell me that it's the best thing to get puppies out to see things and socialize.  Which was very nice!  Usually I get attitude about bring my dog places - I think we will stop going to the street market and only go to the farmer's market.  There's always a large group of people at the street market that, for cultural reasons, do not like dogs and they act really strangely when they see a dog....so anyway....

He walked on a leash for the first time.  So CUTE!

I carried him most of the time, but he gets antsy and wants to explore, so I let him walk a little.  He liked investigating the blocks/jugs/ect. people had holding their tents down.  Some of the blocks were covered in black plastic bags and he had fun jumping up and down off of them.  He also liked the plastic flowers tied to the jugs LOL!  Plastic snack?

Some people were surprised that he was an 8 week old puppy, they thought he was an adult dog.  The most asked question was, "How big will he get?"  That was the question I always got with Tibby too.

He also met a little jack russel terrier that was helping to sell vegetables.  Dhali was like, "Hey."  Not too interested in the other dog.  Such a change from Tibby.

While we were at the market Tibby was hanging out with my Dad.  I guess she had a good time!  She went downstairs to his office for the first time ever.  Usually she just stands at the top of the stairs and barks when I go into my parent's basement.  The basement is too scary, but today she went right downstairs and hung out with my Dad.

He is just so brave about things - it keeps surprising me.  Today I dropped a stainless steel bowl onto the floor and he ran right over to it to investigate.  It was loud!  But he wasn't scared at all.  I LOVE him!

He does this cute head tilt thing when he's listening.  I still haven't caught it on film yet.  Usually he tilts his head right before he attacks the camera.  Makes taking a pic of it hard!

Even Dhali agreed, "It's too hot Mom!  Let's go inside!"

Bark In the Park

We survived Bark In the Park!

I didn't get to pass out my fliers with Ellie's info.  Everyone that stopped to pet her said they had enough dogs.  But I tried!  They were both good.  Considering the situation - tons of people, tons of dogs, outside, noisy, food every where.

My Dad with Ellie.  She how cute she is in her vest?

Tibby sees a dog going down stairs.

The girls.  I think it's funny they looked a little bit like that elderly couple in front of us.

This is when we were waiting for the dog parade.  The Bark In the Park was hosted by the local humane society.  They had a lot of adoptable dogs there.  They were jealous of Ellie's cute vest!  You can see the ones that they made for the adoptable dogs - upper left corner.  They are green vinyl adult bibs with "Adopt Me, Please" written in magic marker.  Some of the Humane Society volunteers asked about Ellie's vest and I told them how to make one.  They are going to make some for a parade on Sat.

Ellie!

While we were waiting I taught her a new trick.  "Jump"  She can jump straight up in the air now on cue - about 5 feet up.  I have to get it on video.

While we were waiting Ellie decided that this was the perfect time to try playing with Tibby.  Tibby was not pleased.  I had to separate them a few times.  It's hard for me to tell what is playing and what is going toward fighting.

Ellie is so relaxed in this very stressful environment.  Nothing scares her.

Zoe and her Mom.  They are now an official Hospice therapy team!

At the end of the doggie parade.  SO MANY DOGS.  Wow.  If I wasn't trying to get Ellie adopted I would have never done that.  It was "slightly" difficult to navigate 2 dogs through that crowd, but we managed.

Full stadium of people and dogs.

"I'm cute and friendly!  Adopt me!"

"Wa' baseball?"

She liked to rest down underneath the seat.

Tibby sat on my lap.  She didn't want to play with Ellie.

Tibby is huggable!

Ellie and Zoe say "hey".

They had little events on the field between innings with different dogs.

Zoe and her Mom.

Zoe's Mom had a squeaky toy for Zoe and Ellie was OBSESSED with stealing it.

She is also very good at finding ANY dropped food.

Relaxing.

Tibby!

"I like baseball!  Balls!"

She's resting her little feet on the seat in front of us.

Watching the game

"Is that an old M&M?  Food!"

"Don't forget I'm cute too!"

Ellie watched the people behind us for the longest time.  She was very interested in the little boy sitting a few seats behind us.  She likes kids a lot!

Now I have 2 very tired dogs.  After we walked home I let the girls run their stress out in the backyard.  Zoom!  They had a nice long game of chase.  Ellie also played some fetch.

Now unfortunately she is in a covered crate.  I gave her a treat of a frozen turkey neck and she had an issue of growling/snapping at Tibby.  Tibby was just walking by Ellie's crate - she doesn't like turkey necks.  I covered the crate and she stopped, so I hope that will be OK.

Stroller Strong

We tried out the stroller today for the first time.  I LOVE THIS STROLLER!
It's awesome.  I don't care if people point and stare - this is a great idea.  It's like a crate on wheels!

And Tibby LOVES it.  Of course.  Every princess should have one.

We went to another race with my Mom today.  Having the stroller along was perfect.  Tibby felt safe in the stroller and she wasn't scared of all the *gasp* possibly dangerous strange men walking around.  Strange men are her #1 fear/reactive trigger.  She looked around and licked her kong.  When she felt like it I let her hop out of the stroller and walk around.  We took a few walks around while we were waiting for my Mom to cross the finish line.  When the crowd gathered around for the awards ceremony -Tibby sat in her stroller and wasn't tripping/sniffing/jumping on people.  She could see everything, but I didn't have to worry about her.  It was great!

She also met a few kids.  3 boys and a girl.  Everyone wants to know Why is your dog in a stroller?  It was nice, because Tibby was sitting at the same level as the kids.  They weren't bending over her or trying to hug her.  She could move away from them, if she wanted to, and they couldn't reach her at the back of the stroller.  I didn't have to worry about her jumping up and smacking them in the face!

My Mom and Tibby

Happy!

My Mom won first in her age group again.

Hot and tired from our stroller adventure!

Mango Minster 2012 - Tibby The Adventure Animal

This is Tibby's entry for Mango Minster 2012 - Adventure Animals

ENTER NOW

Note to our regular readers:  This is a post written by Tibby and there are a lot of pictures/video.

"Hey everydoggie!  Mom's letting me write a post on the blog!  First time ever!  So...last year I was too little to enter the Mango Minster.  I was just a little pup.  Good thing I didn't enter last year anyway - I hadn't had any adventures!  This year I collected up a lot of adventures!
Now I'm not a natural adventure dog, but Mom says new experiences are good for me, so I try......but that means that my little adventures are more adventure (for me) than big adventures for other pups.  Did you understand that?  *whew*  This writing stuff is harder than Mom makes it look!

My favorite adventure is to stick my head out the car window and go for a ride to a new place.  I just relax and let the wind take me where ever it wants (or maybe it's Mom taking me where she wants BOL!!).

This year I was brave and had an adventure at the V-E-T.  ewwwwww.  I didn't even need my Mom!  They came to take me in the back and I was like "Let's GO!"  Then when I came back to Mom I had some furs missing on my sides where the vetspeoples shaved me.  They did some weird things like take x-rays and moving pictures of my heart!  It was a BIG adventure!

I went in a canoe!  All by myself!  BOL!!  Just kidding!  Mom was there too, but I did all the navigation.  She wouldn't let me steer though.....It was an adventure, because people started to shoot at us!  Well.....actually it was just fireworks, but it was a BIG adventure!

My biggest newestest adventure was doing this thing called a 'T-ter'.  It's kind of scary,  but being the adventurer I am I just had to jump on and find out....what treats I could get from it!  BOL!!!!

I'm even adventurous in the food I eat.  I ate a potato out of the garden.  It was crunchy!  I almost gave Mom a heart attack though, 'cause she thought it might be bad for me.  That was an adventure!

So I was at my agility lesson play time and I saw this BIG mountain!  I was like, "Hey mountain I'm an adventurer.  Watch out!  Here I come!"  Gave Mom a small heart attack!  'Course I have to do it at every lesson now....he he he.  Maybe she should just teach me the A-frame and then she could stop having heart attacks.  Just saying....

I like to find out what's under the dirts in the garden.  I dig big holes, but not all the time just when I'm feeling like an adventure!  BOL!!!

I rode on a BUS!!  THAT was quite the adventure.  I even wore a raincoat on the bus BOL!!!

I'm not afraid of any power tools at all.  I'll even help you with your work!  Please call me for any construction projects xxx-xxx-xxxx!  But only if YOU want a big adventure!  After all I don't have thumbs - and NO I didn't lose them in a construction adventure!!!

I tried out Flyball.  Heeemmmm, it was interesting.  I got to eat cheese and there were LOTS of other doggies, BUT they kept taking me away from my Mom!  What's up with that!?!?  NOT an adventure I wanted.  Mooooommmm I want to stay with yoooouuuu!

I like to go on tree climbing adventure!  Just to see what is on the other side or if there are any cheese sticks hiding up there.  Yum!  Cheese!

I'm not afraid to check out scary, creepy, dark sheds.  Where there may be mices hiding!  Nope not scared at all!  Yum.  Mices.......*drool*

I'm so adventurous I jumped up in this hammock - just to get my toy and rock around a little.  Then I jumped out!

I LOVE to go on adventure hikes!  We go all the time, but not enough for me.  I would like to go ALL the time.  Like I would be super adventurous and LIVE in the forest.  But only if I could have my couch in the forest.  It's a necessity.  I'm so adventurous that I go hiking during hunting season!  But Mom made me where some orange stuff, so peoples wouldn't shoot me.  She's not very adventurous.....

I'm adventurous enough to get in the ring with a cat!  WWF-style smack down action!  I even have my own special moves:  Smell my fluffy tail!  BOL!!  I sit on my cat sister face!  That is adventurous 'cause did you know cats have TEETH in their faces?!?!

Thanks for reading my post!  I hope you think I'm an adventurous pup!
