Almost 10 Months!

Another video of Dhali!  I made this the day he was having his surgery.  Dhali highlights!  Some form puppy class, some playing with me and some playing outside.  He is fairly awesome :)

Just 3 more days and he will be 10 months old!

He has amazing play skills!  He can play when I'm holding treats and when there are even treats on the ground.  He can switch from wild play to calmer skill learning.  He can tug with Tibby right up in his face.  They were playing chase and he would rather play with me :)  He can focus in a big class group environment.

Awww he's perfect :)

And right now he is ripping apart a pillow....gotta love the naughty :)

Snowgility!

This is really hard!  It's slippery and all the added clothing makes it so hard to give directions.  I was really afraid that I might slip and poke my eye out on a jump pole.  That would hurt!  It was fun though and a really great work out.

Snowballs

The pups day - in and out into the snow and then they took breaks to melt their snowballs onto the floor.  Thank goodness for heated floors - I'm sure that's what the dogs were thinking LOL!

My floors are now very clean!  And I have lots of wet towels to wash.

Dhali was really busy today.  Cabin fever?  He unrolled the toilet paper not once, but twice!  He's only done this once before when he was a little baby and my Mom was watching him.  I realized today that he doesn't really care if I get after him - uh oh!  He's like, "What?!?  Did you want to unroll it too?  Let's play!"  He also chewed up one of my shoes!  Sad, because I liked those shoes and they were only a couple months old.  Also sad because I didn't think he would chew up my shoes!

Good reminder that he is still a little baby puppy :)

Dhali's First Dog Park

We went to the dog park today.  It was Dhali's first visit.  He liked it a lot.  We had the whole place to ourselves.  Tibby had a nice time too, but Dhali had more fun - racing around and jumping.

He LOVES to jump.  His favorite thing is to run up behind you and jump on your back.  He jumps as high as my shoulders and uses me as a springboard to do a turn and then run away again.  Or sometimes he just jumps, jumps, jumps as you are walking.  He likes to get as close as he possibly can - trying to trip me?!  I'm sure this isn't good for his growing body, but other than keeping him on a leash (and he still does it then) I don't know how to stop him.  And he's having so much fun.  Such a silly puppy.  I do wish he would watch where he is landing though!

He finally got to run full speed in a big area and wow! he is so fast!  Tibby couldn't keep up or catch him.  He's like a little race car!

Daily Dose of Dhali

Today's Dhali cuteness:  I let him sleep on the bed with me (and Tibby).  He slept straight through for almost 10 hours!  And he didn't get up even once.  Tibby tends to snark at him if he moves around too much, so he's learned quickly to stay still or deal with the drama queen!  He's such a cute little snuggle baby.

I think they were both very tired from all the running around they did yesterday.  They ran and ran and played all day long.  Very cute!  Tibby instigates a lot of the play which is nice to see.  She LOVES to get chased and loves to chase Dhali too.  Although he's not quite fast enough yet for her to really open up and run after him.

Fish, Control and Turns

I started reading Control Unleashed Puppy this last week.  So much good information.  I haven't finished reading it, but I started working on mat work and the whiplash turn.  Dhali gets things really fast.  Tibby needs to think a lot more.  It's exactly the book that I needed for Tibby.  If I can figure out how to teach it to Tibby it would be wonderful.  I'm very curious to see if i can teach her to breath and blink on command.  :)  Sounds kind of hard, but useful.

P.S. Dhali ripped the cover off within the first 5 mins.  I was going to sit outside in a chair and he jumped up and grabbed the book.  I saved the rest of the book, but the cover was in 3 pieces.  It looks kind of rough now!

She has been a lot more eager to have her training session.  When it's Dhali's turn she goes into the bed room and gets up on the bed, but if I don't call her for her turn, she acts very put out and goes into the living room and looks at the training stuff.  I'm not sure why she doesn't want to watch Dhali when it's his turn.  They only get 3 mins. each, so it's not a huge amount of time to wait!

On Thurs. I stopped giving her the medication the vet prescribed.  Tibby misses her cheese, but otherwise I didn't see any difference in her behavior.  The whole week she has been acting more playful and happy - without the tiny, tiny dose of pain meds she was still happy and playful.  I looked up the dosage for a dog Tibby's size and she was taking 1/2 of the lowest recommended dose.

Dhali modeling the most popular toy.

This is THE toy of the moment.  Tibby even tugs with Dhali for this toy.  She also chased after it and jumped on me to get it.  It has a rattle AND a squeaker.  Whoa!

Dhali would like to show you his smile.  Soon (very soon) to be replaced with new chompers.  He has been chewing on EVERYTHING.  I give him frozen smelt to chew on.  He likes them a lot and they keep him busy for a few mins. too.  Tibby thinks they're gross.  I really want to get a picture when he has a little fishy tail hanging out of his mouth.  It is SO CUTE!

11 Weeks Old and At the Farmer's Market

>

We went to the farmer's market again and my Mom and Dad went with us. It was fun! Dhali didn't want to be carried very much, so he bounced and hopped around on the end of his leash. He is SO SILLY! And cute! I wish I had a video of it, because it was very funny. He looked like he was dancing. Everyone loves him and wants to know what breed he is and if he will get bigger. We met a woman in a wheelchair with a 'therapy dog' that "is friendly! and just wants to say hi!". Yeah, friendly dogs don't usually growl???

He ate treats and was very attentive to get those treats LOL! He ate some treats from a few different people. He's so cute. But he gets into everything! Very interested in everything. He thought a rolling box/suitcase thing was so crazy - he wanted to chase it and he did a little jig when it went past and he couldn't reach it. Not scared of anything so far...

I played with him next to the parking lot at the farmer's market. We had played a bunch already, but he still wanted to play. He LOVES to run. He wasn't that interested in the toy, but he wanted to chase me, bite me, jump on me and bite/tug on my pants.

Helpful

Daily Dog Challenge
268 - Adjective - What's the first adjective that comes to mind when you think of your dog? Take a photo that shows us what it is.

Playful and cute would be the first thing that comes to mind for Dhali.  Tibby would be sweet and cuddly.  BUT I had this cute picture!  So helpful is the word!

Busy Day, Tired Pup

Dhali is very tired tonight.  This evening we went over to my parent's house - both TTs + me.  Dhali took a nap in his crate while we ate dinner.  Man, I love a crate trained dog!  It's amazing!  Then we (my Mom, me and Dhali) went to visit Zoe's Mom, Zoe and a few other family members.  Dhali explored a new house/people/backyard.  Zoe LOVED Dhali.  They played and played and played, until they were both laying on the grass totally exhausted.  :)  Zoe is just slightly larger than Dhali, so the perfect size (for now).  He's growing so fast :(  I wish he could stay this size forever!
He pottied in their yard without a problem.  Still hasn't had an accident yet!

After Dhali was completely tired out we stopped at my Grandma's house and she got to meet Dhali for the first time.  He was tired and very well behaved ;)

Then we went back to my parent's house and Tibby was SO HAPPY to see us LOL!

I'm trying very hard to make sure they get to go to places separately.  I think that it's important.

Right now we are having a big thunderstorm.  I finally remembered to get Tibby's thundershirt out for her.  She calmed down after I put it on her.  She even offered some behaviors to get a piece of my banana.  Then she went to bed.  funny girl.  I wonder if she would like to wear the Thundershirt all the time?  Or would that ruin it's effect?

Bumble Ball Video

I'm not sure if the Bumble ball was a hit, but it was funny! I like the way he slaps his paws on the deck - so cute!

Bonfire Night

We went to a bonfire on Thursday.  I like this picture, because it has Tibby, the bonfire and the moon!

This is Tibby with her 'boyfriend' Benji.  Benji would like Tibby to be his girlfriend (if you know what I mean), but she just likes to flirt.  She gets all happy and waggy when Benji comes out to play.

Zoe and Tibby

"Benji!  This is a girls only picture!"

Tibby kisses!

Sparklers

Tibby's good at giving snuggles.

Personal Play

I have been reading Denise Fenzi's blog and watching her training videos with her puppy.  I have learned a lot about playing with a dog.  Sometimes I want to slap my past self!  I really, really didn't know how to speak 'dog' when Tibby was a puppy.  Sorry Tibs :(  I'm trying to do better though!

I love watching a whole string of the videos of Denise Fenzi's puppy Lyra and see the progression.  It's neat to see how her puppy learned and changed.  I like the way Denise interacts physically with Lyra.  When Tibby was a puppy I (extremely unfortunately) took the advice that any time Tibby tried to play with me physically - jumping on me, mouthing, pulling on my clothes - that she was trying to be dominate.  When in reality.....she just wanted to play and needed some redirection.

I'm still learning and I don't understand it all.  It being playing.  So I don't want to write like I'm some authority on it.  My attempts to play with Tibby are pretty hilarious.  I'm sure Tibby thinks I'm a little....slow.  But we are having A TON O' FUN!!!  We play a lot.

Last night I tried personal play without a toy.  Tibby LOVED it!  She was better playing with me than with her favorite tug.  She played with me and I have the scars to prove it!  LOL!  Nah, not scars, just little scratches.  We wrestled and she chased me and I chased her and Tibby ran around like a crazy beast.  And then tonight we played again!  Even better - Tibby offered banging the teeter to start our play game.  Every time I would start to slow down, she would bang the teeter again - like a restart button!  Because OF COURSE I go crazy when she bangs the teeter!  Hee hee :)  She loves it :)

So as a re-cap:  My hard to motivate dog likes to play with me :)  No toys or treats in sight.

My Best Bunny

Tibby's favorite spot in the vacation house.
She started to carry this bunny around and playing with it like crazy - shaking it around and bringing it to me to play tug and fetch.
It's very cute!
Everything Tibby does is cute!
