National Dog Day! Cake and A Picnic!

August 26th was national dog day.  I wanted to take the dogs and do something fun, but it was 95F and humid, so I baked them a cake instead.

And then we had a picnic!

This was my cake recipe: 1 can of green tripe, 1/2 cup of garbanzo bean flour, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup of almond milk.  Mixed it all up and baked it for 40 mins.
Then I 'frosted' it with peanut butter and added some peanut butter chips to the top.  I tried to make it spell D-O-G.

Then we went outside and the dogs had their cake and ate it too!

Ok there are a lot of pictures, but peanut butter + cute puppies = adorable!

PB Tube

This is how I make a food tube for Tibby.  I use it when I'm training her.  It's great, because my fingers don't get greasy and it's easy to hold on to.  Also, she can't gnaw on my fingers - she just gnaws on the tube instead.

First you take an empty toothpaste tube and cut off the bottom.  Wash it thoroughly and dry it.

Put the PB in the microwave until it is melted and easy to pour.

Pour peanut butter into the tube.

Fold over the end of the tube and tape the end of the tube with duct tape.  The black thing in the picture I use to hold the tube upright.  It's an extra hose connector for my pond fountain.

I like the JIF natural, because it's lower in salt and sugar.  There is still a lot of salt and sugar, but not quite as much as the reg. PB.

Who Let You Out of the Pod?

"Well, well, well.  What have we here?"

"This looks like a lot of work.  Let me give you a paw."

"No reaaaally....let me help.  I'm good with peas!  Trust me."

"Are you sure?"  'cause I've been around a pod or two in my 15 months, so I could give you some shelling tips.  *hint* it works better if you use your teeth.  I'm giving you that one for free."

"Well, ok I'll just be right here to inspect your work.  Quality control is my middle name."

"What have we here?  Aren't you sweet?  Two little peas out of the pod....all alone with no one watching.  Something bad could happen to you.  It's a big dangerous world out here...."

"Rwar!"

Why Do You Ask?

Why, yes, I do enjoy a pumpkin-peanut butter Kong.
