Training Fun With Two Dogs

I thought you all might like to see a little training session I did with Tibby and Lucy this weekend.  You have to remember that before this weekend Lucy was labeled as 'dog aggresive' and she has NEVER in her entire life been allowed to play or interact (except barking/lunging on a leash) with another dog.

I thought they were pretty cute.  And super focused.  Competition at its best LOL!

I took a bunch of pictures of Lucy and Tibby and gave them to Lucy's owners yesterday.  They couldn't believe that Lucy and Tibby could play together.  They were shocked.  When we walked up to their place (Tibby was with me, of course) they were all worried about putting Lucy away, because they thought she would try to 'get Tibby'.  When Tibby and Lucy just sniffed each other and said 'hey', they were stunned.  Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

That is interesting. Does Lucy just have a leash-reactivity issue? I was shocked the first time I learned that a dog who is reactive or aggressive on leash is not necessarily reactive or aggressive all the time . ..

I'm not sure, because she wasn't reactive to any dogs when I walked her this weekend. I think it is poor/lack of training and maybe some encouragement to 'be protective' by her owners.

That's great that Lucy can get along with others. She looks like she wouldn't be hard to train.

Bella acts aggressive on the lead, but off the lead is quite amiable....when not trying to chase cyclists.

Riley is only reactive towards (some) other dogs when she's on a leash. And even then, it's only some dogs, not all. Reactive to about 30% of dogs and ignores about 70% of dogs.

When she's off leash with another dog, she doesn't typically have a problem.
