Baldy

On Memorial day I noticed a quarter sized bald spot on Catty's neck.  I was brushing her at the time, so I just thought I might have pulled out a clump of fur accidentally.
I kept an eye on it and on Wed., when it had doubled in size, I called to make an appt. with the vet.  The earliest they could fit us in was the next Monday.
By Monday it was even bigger and balder.
The vet took blood, urine and a skin scrape sample.  EVERYTHING came back as normal - $200 later....

So happy that Catty isn't sick, but still weird that she has this strange bald spot.

This picture is from right after the vet visit.
The vet told me not to worry and to just keep an eye on it.  I was happy that her labs came back as normal.  After having a cat develop hyperthyroidism and eventually losing her to it - I'm super obsessive about any change in Catty's behavior or health.

The vet did say I need to get Catty to eat more.  She lost another 1/2 lb. since her last visit in Dec.  So now she weighs in at 5.5 lbs.  She just doesn't want to eat!  I try to tempt her with treats and soft canned food, even tuna or meat.  Nope, she isn't interested.

So Catty is still losing little clumps of hair, but the original bald spot is regrowing.  So.....I have no idea what is going on.

I know what you mean about being hypervigilant when you see a change in your cat's behavior... I'm the same way with my cat Charlotte, who has had some serious health issues in the past.

Hopefully the bald spot goes away quickly so that you don't have to worry about it!

It's amazing how much 'normal' costs! Maybe she's just losing hair for the summer.
